Headway 3.2.4 Pushed Out

We just pushed out Headway 3.2.4 last night.  You can see the complete change log below.  As we have said before, we plan to be on a very aggressive upgrading schedule here at Headway.  We want to get new features out and any fixes which need to be done as fast as we can.  As always, if you have feature suggestions, please leave those in the forums so we can discuss them with you and the community.

In addition, as we mentioned the other day, we pushed out the new Utility Block from one of our 3rd party developers over at Headway Labs.  A huge number of you have grabbed this amazing block and are already using it to take your Headway powered site to the next level.  If you haven’t already checked it out, visit the Block’s page in Headway Extend and try out the demo.  It is pretty amazing.

We will be pushing out some new Blocks shortly too.  More exciting things coming.

Please remember to backup before updating your site. If you’re looking for a great, reliable solution for backups, we highly recommend BackupBuddy.

Change log

Additions

  • Admin: Added a meta box to the admin write panel (posts, pages, etc) to select a Headway template
  • Admin: The admin list views (listings of posts, pages, categories, etc) now show an “Open in Visual Editor” link along with the normal Edit, Delete, Quick Edit links
  • Admin: Admin write panels now show an “Open in Visual Editor” button right below the title and beside the permalink
  • Visual Editor: New and improved Visual Editor tour (pushing escape now also will close it)
  • Visual Editor: Added tooltips to the block type selector to explain the difference between block types
  • Content Block: Added the ability to hide an entry’s title via the Title Control meta box
  • Content Block: Added an edit button beside post/page titles in the Content Block
  • Navigation Block: Added effects control to the Navigation Block

Changes

  • Visual Editor: The View Site button in the Visual Editor now takes you to the layout you’re editing in the Visual Editor
  • Visual Editor: Visual Editor now uses CSS3 transitions rather than jQuery animations to handle the toggling of the layout selector and panel. This results in smoother animations
  • Visual Editor: The Grid Wizard now puts “Clone Existing” tab above “Presets” tab
  • Admin: Improved the look of Headway Meta boxes on the admin write panel

Bug Fixes

  • Design Editor: Fixed an occasional PHP warning showing when editing instances or states in the Design Editor
  • General: Improved how layout IDs are handled for posts, pages, and categories
  • Compiler: Fixed an issue with the box shadow outputting a color of “#transparent” when the color is supposed to just be “transparent”

Updating

As always, the update is available via the automatic updater in the WordPress Admin panel. Or, if you wish, you can upgrade by downloading Headway 3.2.4 from the Members’ Dashboard and uploading it via FTP or the WordPress theme updater.

  1. Normally when there is a new version I get a “message” at the top of my wordpress dashboard and I can update from there. How do i update if there is no “message”? Sorry, I know it’s probably easy but I’m just not sure… I’m having this issue too, and running Headway 3.2 with wordrpress 3.4.1

    •  @JoyfulAbode This was fixed in update 3.2.3 as far as seeing the update notice. You can simply go to members’s dashboard, download latest version and install via the theme panel in WordPress dashboard.

Make sure you have entered in your Headway license in the dashboard too.

    •  @NetIngenuity I am not sure the guys over there have done any updates to make sure they are keeping up to date with us so they are compatible with Headway Themes.  Happy to work with them to do so if they want to contact us.

  3. Another question: Does Headway Extend have anything to display videos and play audio files or would I use any 3rd party plugin? I particularly wish to display videos from youtube.com and have the youtube playlist of related titles display in a vertical menu under the player in a narrow widgetized sidebar. And I want it to play on an iphone (not with Flash).  So far, everything I’ve been learning about Headway looks great. TIA.

  4. I’ve really enjoyed reading your different articles. They are so informative and interesting. This post give truly quality information. I’m definitely going to look into it. Really very useful tips are provided here. thank you so much.Keep up the good works.
