Naming wrappers and blocks in 3.7

You might notice that new wrappers and blocks show without an ID next to them in Grid and Design Mode. That is because we switched to a different way of assigning IDs (UUID) that makes them completely unique but also very long (but much more stable). Instead of identifying your wrappers and blocks by those IDs, assigning aliases is very important in 3.7 to keep track of which blocks and wrappers are which.

To make it easier for you, we’ve made setting the alias available in the right click menu.

Here’s what your wrappers and blocks look like before setting an alias in grid mode:
hw-37-aliases-1

And after you add an alias
hw-37-aliases-3

Here are the differences in Design Mode

And of course, you can still add aliases in the config options of the block or wrapper too!

  1. This is a great new convention folks. Adding being able to name via right click is great too.

I’ll try to remember to use this in all cases.
    Thanks for the great work.

  2. for parallax i can’t link to alias name.
so how can i change wrapper id name something like
#wrapper-wu555092151a264c to simple name like #section1

    • You currently can’t change the wrapper ID to something custom. We are looking at adding that capability, however.

What you could do is create your own anchors using a custom code block inside the wrapper.
