Screencast Tuesdays: Learn How to Use New Filters!

Welcome back to another Screencast Tuesday! This week I thought I’d do something a little different and show you the new filters we have in version 2.0.11 and how easy it is to achieve a new look with your social media sharing options.

Place this in the Scripts & Analytics box, either the Header or Footer.

This goes in the custom_functions.php file. This you can just copy paste. I didn’t put my Twitter account in it. 🙂

Spread the word!

  1. These screencasts are an AMAZING additional value for Headway Theme users, so I mostly just wanted to say Thank You for the great new training content, and in particular, I found this screencast to be massively helpful. Plugging in additional social features is how we can improve our websites’ overall value and popularity, so you really picked the perfect place to dive in with this Headway feature.

  2. AJ, thanks for that tutorial.

    I got it working nicely with the tweet, +1 and LinkedIn Share button. Even managed to include a get_the_title function for the tweet button (so the post title is included in the Tweet when doing so from the home page).

    Only problem I’m having is with the LinkedIn Button… for some reason it’s not aligned with the other two. Any ideas why? how to fix it?

    Here’s the code I’m using in my custom functions file:

    function bs_post_meta_below_title_right() {
    ?>
    <a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-url="” data-text=”” data-count=”horizontal” data-via=”BenySchonfeld”>Tweet <g:plusone size="medium" href="”> <script type="IN/Share" data-url="” data-counter=”right”>
    <?php
    }
    add_filter('headway_post_meta_below_title_right', 'bs_post_meta_below_title_right');

  3. Hi,
    I followed your directions but it’s not showing up on my test site.

    I was not able to get the “uncategorized” post meta to show up. I have no idea why. Everything else, including your directions to add uncategorized, were followed.

    Can you help?

  4. Keep them coming AJ its all good stuff and builds the brand brill, like you don’t know that…:) Want to see Headway build and build and build

    All good resources
    Thank you.

  5. After 3 hours I figured out the code that works with Headway 3.0.x. The js include is necessary, and then the following in your child theme functions file or custom_functions.php:

    add_action(‘headway_after_entry_title’, ‘aj_add_header’);

    function aj_add_header() { ?> <a href="http://twitter.com/share" data-url="” data-count=”horizontal”>Tweet <g:plusone size="medium" href="”> <?php}

  6. For those looking to implement this into Headway 3.0, replace:

    add_filter(‘headway_post_meta_below_title_right’, ‘aj_post_meta_below_title_right’);

    with

    add_action(‘headway_after_entry_title’, ‘aj_post_meta_below_title_right’);
