Adding Analytics or Advertisement Javascript to your Header (or Footer)

Google Analytics, Get Clicky and other popular analytics services provide you with handy snippets of code and vague instructions to “place the code into your site’s header” or footer. A quick web search will reveal that it’s not as simple as that; for many WordPress Themes you need to edit .php files, and HTML-only sites require even more work. Trying to find the right instructions for your theme can be frustrating.

Look no farther!

Whether it’s analytics code (header) or re-marketing code (footer) or ad network JS (varies) you have an easy route to installation. Just log in to the WordPress admin panel, open up Headway ► Options, and find the Scripts/Analytics tab. Paste your snippet into the header or footer box and save.

Voila!

Note that this is not an area to place any sort of site-wide notice or other plain text or HTML. The Header box places code in the < head > of the website, and the Footer box places code directly before the closing </body> tag.
