In case you missed it, or haven’t logged into your WordPress site in the last two days, we’ve released Headway 3.0.4. This comes just one day after we released 3.0.3. Some of the big changes were actually addressing two small bugs that cause you not to save when you were using either the custom code block or the live CSS editor. One very notable update in this release is that we’ve moved from our own home-brewed updater to the WordPress updater. This is a big improvement and allows us to use what everyone else is using. It also means that we don’t need to worry about our home-brewed system causing problems with some peoples’ web hosts. The last feature worth mentioning is that we added back the 301 Redirect feature to the Search Engine Optimization panel for all posts and pages. This is a feature a lot of people found useful and one that no other theme has. You can view the full changelog here on the forums.
As always, the update is available via the automatic updater in the WordPress Admin panel. Or, if you wish, you can upgrade by download Headway 3.0.4 from the Members’ Dashboard and uploading it via FTP or the WordPress theme update. Please remember to backup before updating your site. If you’re looking for a great, reliable solution for backups, we highly recommend BackupBuddy.
Thanks for the update AJ. Any word on Child Themes coming out soon?
@Rob_Poss Child Themes will be released as we get them completed. We’ve got several in the works and will be available after the new year.
Hmm, is anyone else having problems with theirs? I can’t even find where I’m supposed to upload my header. Can anyone help? I’m getting errors and ‘undefined’ across the top.
@yayaandzuzu
Please create a thread in the support forums at http://support.headwaythemes.com so we can help you out 🙂
Good to see updates – lets me know that you boys are working hard. LOL
Looking forward to my first Headway site in 2012.
Thanks team
I too would like to see at least one Child Theme released sooner rather than later. It would be helpful to be able to “deconstruct” the elements of an existing HT 3.xx site, especially for those of us who are new to all of this.
@bawilliamson We would too believe me. 🙂 We just want to make sure that the majority of people not using child themes have a great product in their hands as well. We’ll be releasing Child Themes as they get finished. They will start being released after the new year.
Please I have a stupid question.. maybe..
Where is easy hooks on the new Headway version?
@llbrasil Don’t worry, your question isn’t stupid! Easy Hooks aren’t in 3.0 since you can insert content in nearly every area by using a custom code block on the grid.
However, we will still be releasing an Easy Hooks plugin, but it will not be included inside the core of Headway Base.
@claygriffiths@llbrasil Thanks for the quick reply Clay.. But what if I want to have something overlapping my header.. such as social media icons.. keeping my headar background.. can I insert the code on a box next to my header and then on the Live CSS make the magic??
Hope you got it..
thanks
@llbrasil That’s one way of approaching it, but if you want to still use regular hooks, you can do so.
To add in code via WordPress/Headway hooks, you can do so with the child theme API. You can read about it in the codex here: http://codex.headwaythemes.com/index.php/Child_Theme_Creation_101
You can view the current hook list here: http://codex.headwaythemes.com/index.php/Hooks_(Actions_and_Filters)_List
I don’t mean to be rude referring to a competitor but I think you sure could use a visual hook reference like this… http://www.woothemes.com/woocodex/canvas-hookfilter-reference/ it would make things a lot easier @claygriffiths @llbrasil
@d8m18n We had a visual hook reference plugin for 2.0, but we haven’t created one for 3.0 yet.
Hi Clay…thanks, my entry into the Headway experience is from v3.0 so please excuse my unfamiliarity with previous versions. Cheers @claygriffiths
@d8m18n No problem at all!
We have a lot of stuff planned and in the works to make the Headway experience the best it can possible be.
 @claygriffiths Any idea when the Easy Hooks Plugin will be released?
Where can I find instructions for using 3.0.4?
@ThisMomsDelight The Headway Codex is the best place to start – http://codex.headwaythemes.com/index.php/Main_Page
I am so frustrated with not being able to replace 2.13 with 3.0. Just today my css live editor completely stopped working and whole site lost all the css formatting.
