We’ve had a few people asking how to get the new Google +1 button on their website. Gary has done a nice job of adding a tutorial into the forums, but we thought we’d spend a few minutes showing everyone how easy it is to add the button to Headway. This morning I created a screencast, running just over 5 minutes. Take a look at see just how easy it is to add social media buttons with Headway!
Google +1 Button link.
Instead of leaving it within the posts, I left it as a widget on my sidebar. My site is page heavy not post heavy, and there are no good places to put it in my pages, so I decided on the right sidebar widget is best.
Nice tutorial. Thanks!
Thanks! Just what I needed 🙂
Glad to see you guys posting videos looking forward to Video Tuesdays!
Thanks for putting this tutorial together. I wasn’t aware that you could use the easy hooks to do this.
That being said, I prefer to use the Digg Digg Plugin as it gives a variety of ways that users can share and is very configurable but I will keep this tutorial in mind.
Headway Rocks!!
Plugins are great, but for things like sharing your posts, it’s just as easy to put in a little bit of code yourself. It also helps keep the amount of plugins you load down, which is important for a fast loading site. 🙂
Cheers AJ for the video tut. Headway really does make things simple. I just added my Google +1 in the easy hook “Before featured/single post content” Will experiment with the placement following the stats from Google webmaster central.
I cant get the button to show up. I noticed the script looks different on your video than what is given at http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/
would that matter?
